Call for Abstracts

Hosted in Dublin City University

8-9th November 2018

 

This interdisciplinary conference will highlight research excellence from Ireland’s postgraduate students. The 2-day event will include graduate development workshops; oral, poster and mixed media presentations; social activities; dinner and reception. The presenters are invited to share how their research contributes to society in 10-minutes talks to interdisciplinary audiences outside their fields of study.

Featuring a strong social programme, this will be a fun opportunity to network and meet students from across Ireland and explore Dublin.

We also welcome research students from outside of Ireland.

 

Abstracts (300 words max.) for oral, poster and mixed media presentations can be submitted under the following four themes at www.iprc.ie/abstracts. Please highlight how you see your research fits into the category and the overall conference theme “Research Contributing to Society.”

 

1) Discovery and Translation of Knowledge to Advance Society

2) Focus on Creativity and Innovation

3) Advancement and Application of Technology

4) Sustainability

Master’s Students Session

Encouraging 1st year PhD and Master’s students to participate, there will be a special session with an extended abstract deadline (15 October 2018) for those in their early months to present their research ideas and the impact they hope to achieve.

Your abstract should be in plain language and understandable to a person outside of your field. Evaluation will be done with equal regard to the following criteria:

(i) quality/applicability of contribution.

(ii) significance for society.

(iii) relevance and clarity for a general audience.

(iv) quality of presentation (number of words, grammar, structure).
