Workshop Research Communication
by Brian Trench (Senior Lecturer DCU School of Communications)

This workshop will explore simplification, listening, questioning and feedback as vital parts of research communication. Participants will form groups of three from different disciplinary backgrounds, one to explain their research in an easily understood way, one to listen to the explanation and present it later, and one to facilitate the conversation and give feedback on the process.

 

Workshop Grant Writing
by Dr. Geraldine Canny (Head of the Irish Marie Skłodowska-Curie Office)

This workshop is geared towards 3rd and 4th year PhD students. It will comprise a presentation giving an overview to grant writing, cross-cutting themes such as ethics and transferable skills as well as principles of grant implementation and management.

The presentation will be followed by an interactive writing workshop on Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships. Participants will receive training in writing the specific sections and will be invited to reflect on their career goals and what training they wish to acquire in the short and medium term in order to achieve those goals.

 

Workshop Mendeley

Mendeley is a desktop and web program produced by Elsevier for managing and sharing research papers, discovering research data and collaborating online. It combines Mendeley Desktop, a PDF and reference management application available for Windows, macOS and Linux. This practical workshop will explore the basic of setting up your bibliographic database and use Mendeley to manage, track and include references in your publications. Own laptop required.

 

Workshop Qualtrics

What is Qualtrics? Qualtrics is the world’s first experience management platform, designed to allow you to gather, analyse and act on your core business data. This hands-on workshop will provide you with the basic skills to be able to set up, execute and analyse your questionnaires using this powerful software. Own laptop required.

 

If you wish to attend any of the workshops but you are not registered to IPRC18 you are welcome to join in on your workshop of choice. The cost for non-register participants is 10€.
