Student Session 4: Medicine and Mental Health


Caring for one’s body and mind

Registrations keep coming in and the Irish Postgraduate Research Conference (IPRC) is proud to have its fifth student session confirmed. This session will host student speakers from various universities, who will focus on the different aspects of medicine and mental health.

The individual topics to be presented are:

  1. DHFR2: a chance for new chemotherapy drugs and NTDs prevention – Paola Drago (Dublin City University)
  2. The Consequences of Advancements in Resuscitation: The Medico-Legal Deficit – Lucy Davis (University Limerick)
  3. The impact of combined health warning labels on cigarette packs on a student population – Diane O’Doherty (Limerick Institute of Technology)
  4. Dealing with loss: young peoples experiences of support services for issues related to loss and grief. – Evelyn Hill (Limerick Institute of Technology)
  5. An investigation of the effects of Social Network Site use on Self-Objectification and Depression. – Aisling Costello (Dublin City University)
  6. Being Online Is Just Easier: A Survey of Online Help-seeking in Young Adults in Ireland – Claudette Pretorius (University College Dublin)

Each speaker will give a 10-minute presentation after which the audience will get time to ask questions. Everybody is welcome to drop by and listen to the speakers.
